This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Untangle mobile application. By using Untangle, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Untangle is a companion app for people navigating a breakup. We use industry-standard services to provide accounts, sync certain onboarding answers you choose to save, and handle subscriptions. Journal entries and “reasons” you add in the app are stored on your device unless and until you use features that sync them to our servers—as of this policy date, those items are stored locally on your device in the shipped app version; we will update this policy if that changes.
If you sign in with Apple, Apple may share with us (via our authentication provider) information such as a user identifier associated with your Apple ID and, depending on your choices, name and/or email (including Apple’s private relay email). We use Supabase to operate authentication and our database for the features we provide.
If you complete onboarding and sync to your account, we may store the answers you submit in our database (for example, information related to your breakup timeline, goals, and similar onboarding fields). This is used to operate app features tied to your account.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements, and Superwall to present and test paywalls. These services may collect identifiers and subscription-related information (such as purchase status) and product interaction events (such as paywall views and taps) as described in their respective privacy policies.
Certain content you create in Untangle (such as journal check-ins and “reasons”) may be stored locally on your device so the app can function.
Our third-party partners may collect limited technical and usage information to provide their services (for example, subscription status checks and paywall analytics). We do not use your information for third-party advertising as described in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency “tracking” definition.
Depending on applicable law, we rely on bases such as: contract (providing the service you request), legitimate interests (securing and improving the app, fraud prevention, subscription support), and consent where required (for example, where Apple or platform prompts apply).
We share information with vendors who help us run Untangle, including:
These providers process information according to their policies and our agreements with them. We do not sell your personal information.
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of account-held information by contacting us (see below). Some records may be retained where required by law or legitimate security/billing needs.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Untangle is not intended for children under 9. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also be able to control subscription settings through Apple. To exercise rights, contact us at the email below. We may need to verify your request.
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
